Android - CaterShark Phone App Installation Instructions

Please Note... You must have an existing CaterShark portal before using the mobile devices.  The mobile devices can only be used in conjunction with a CaterShark catering portal.  If you do not have a portal, please sign-up now.

Before Installing CaterShark App first check - Enable Unknown Sources

You may need to modify your Android’s settings to allow the installation of applications from other sources.

  1. Browse to your Android applications.
  2. Find and click  your Settings Icon
  3. Under “Settings,” select “Application Settings” (some androids simply call this Applications)
  4. Look for Unknown sources and enable the Checkbox to Allow install of non-Market applications.
  5. Once complete you are now ready to install the CaterShark App.

Installing the Android CaterShark App.

  1. Navigate to your android Web browser
  2. You may also find it easier to email this link directly to your phone.
  3. Once you click Go in your web browser the CaterShark.apk should start downloading to your Android device.
  4. When download is complete you will need to click on the CaterShark.apk file in your download history.
  5. This will initialize the install. If you already have a version installed then it will ask you if you want to replace that version. Click ok.
  6. Next Click Install button. The installing… progress bar will appear.
  7. Application installed.
  8. Click Open to view your CaterShark Catering App.
  9. A CaterShark Launcher Icon will appear in your applications.

Post Installation
After installation is complete, start the application and go to Settings. Click the Test Sync button to test connectivity OR to obtain your unique Mobile Device Identifier. Once you've obtained this unique identifier, you will need to login to your CaterShark portal and update your User Profile by entering this identifier and saving the changes. Then, on your mobile device, click Test Sync again until a Success message appears.

Once you're successfully synced to your CaterShark account, you'll be able to View Menu Options, View Events, and Create New Events. These same items will be pulled and pushed back and forth between your mobile device and the CaterShark catering portal. If you choose to allow your clientele to submit events to your organization, you will need to give them these same instructions after they've registered with your catering portal, or you've created a user account for them within your catering portal.


Blackberry - CaterShark Phone App Installation Instructions

To install the CaterShark mobile application for Blackberry, or if you have problems installing the application, please follow the below procedures.

  1. Open the browser on the Blackberry and click the Blackberry menu key and go to Options.
  2. Go to General Properties and under Default Browser, select Internet Browser, then Save changes and click the return key to go out and to the previous screen.
  3. Next, click on Browser Configuration and under Browser, select Internet Browser.  Under Browser Identification, select Internet Explorer.  Then Save and exit.
  4. Now that your browser settings have been configured, go back into your browser.
  5. You may also find it easier to email this link directly to your phone.
  6. Once you click Go in your web browser the CaterShark.jad should start downloading to your Blackberry device.
  7. When download is complete, if the installation doesn't automatically begin, you will need to click on the CaterShark.jad file in your media download location.
  8. During installation, click the checkbox next to Set Application Permissions and then click on the Download button.  On the permissions page, make sure you either ALLOW all, or if you want to grant specific privileges, make sure the following are ALLOWED before saving and exiting the permissions screen:
  1. ALLOW “Phone” under the Connections section
  2. ALLOW “Server Network” under the Connections section
  3. ALLOW “Internet” under the Connections section
  4. ALLOW “Wi-Fi” under the Connections section
  5. Take the defaults under the Interactions section
  6. ALLOW everything under the User Data section

If you try to grant specific privileges and data does not get displayed properly within the CaterShark mobile application following installation, it is suggested you re-run the CaterShark installation and ALLOW everything under each security section.

Post Installation
